The Welwitschia ring is truly one of a kind.  The inspiration for this design came from the incredibly unique Welwitschia plant, found in the arid Namib desert. Family trips to the Fish River Canyon, known as the Grand Canyon of Africa always included a trip through a portion of the Namib desert.  Arid, hot and dry… to the naked eye, it looked as if nothing would grow or survive this habitat.  But amidst this inhospitable terrain, the Welwitschia plant grows.
The “petals” are hand formed from sterling silver, hammered and textures added, folded to mimic the strange beautiful plant of the desert. 
The centerpiece of the ring is a piece of “desert rose” crystal I found in Namibia. The silver has been beautifully patined. The words : “Through it all” stamped on the sterling band.
